AUTUMN/WINTER 2025
AT HOME IN NATURE
自然为家
An hour's drive west of Paris brings you to Berchères-sur-Vesgre.
In this small commune embraced by the countryside,
amid waving grasses and a low tree
with yellow flowers dazzling bright in the breeze, autumn light lingers softly.
Here, one feels a sense of both familiarity and strangeness
— why have we come?
Sky, earth, and all living things merge into one,
existing only in their simplest, most fundamental form,
along a vast and generous horizon.
We move forward into this boundless landscape,
capturing nature’s spontaneous poetry,
letting it infuse the weariness and vitality of urban life.
Lost in this poetic beauty,
we exist within it without doing,
and the wind carries the chorus of all things —
“Nature as home; home as nature.”
Coming home, it turns out, is the answer.
